The West Millard Mosquito Abatement District was organized as an independent local government entity on July 5,1961. The district has always enjoyed the involvement of the local citizens. One of the first actions of the district was to capture mosquito fish in the shallow water of Utah Lake and distribute the fish at a local agricultural cooperative so that the community members could put them in the mosquito sources on their properties.
We currently have a five member Board of Trustees comprised of one member from each of the four incorporated municipalities and one County at large member to represent the unincorporated area of the district. Like other Utah districts we are governed by Utah Code 17B and receive all of our funding through annual property tax assessments.
We have two full time employees and have had as many as sixteen seasonal employees who work during the mosquito season.
